Local Waterfront Revitalization Program (LWRP) for the Town of Wilmington :  Survey #3

The Wilmington LWRP Citizens’ Committee has met monthly since December 2005 and identified the following project ideas through the process of a Waterfront Inventory and Analysis and Policy Development.  More importantly the Committee gathered ideas from the community through public meetings, workshops, letters, and surveys.  This information now needs to be prioritized for further consideration.  Please see the full projects (draft) list on the LWRP web at www.adksc.org (click on Wilmington Waterfront Project) or see the list in the Town Clerk’s Citizen’s LWRP Booklet.

Please answer this short survey to share your thoughts on project priorities for Wilmington ’s waterfront.

1.             Lake and Beach Area Restoration:  Please circle the item of highest priority for you. 

  1. Lake Restoration (dredging, watershed planning, sediment control, water quality, etc.)      
  2. Maintenance / Safety (control trash / vandalism, improve parking and safety at Flume, etc.)
  3. Beach Pavilion Improvements (improvements in pavilion, playground, boat launch, etc.)
  4. Recreational Improvements (interpretive tour, bike paths, tennis, etc.)

2.                    Public Access to Waterfront:  Please circle the item of highest priority for you.

  1. Flume Area (enforce litter control, improve parking and walkways, etc.) 
  2. Fishing Access (DEC help for improved fishing access/signage, bird preserve, trash cleanup.)
  3. General Access (coordinated signs, bike/walking paths, public areas on water, better maps, community center/museum, etc.)
  4. Historic Bridge/Hamlet Center (repair bridge/dam, improve parking and parks, etc.)

3.                    Hamlet / Town Revitalization:  Please circle the item of highest priority for you.

  1. Watershed/Scenic Protection (planning and zoning improvements to prevent erosion, funds to upgrade failing septic systems, volunteer water quality monitoring, training for youth, pollution control, public education, historic/natural interpretation, wildlife/bird/turtle monitoring, energy conservation, etc.)           
  2. Economic Benefits (support for businesses, shopping improvements for local consumers, community center for local classes, regional cooperation, workforce housing, 4-season job access.)
  3. Pedestrian/Bike Access (sidewalks, bike paths around town, etc.)

  1. Fundraising for Waterfront projects (outside of tax base where possible)              
  2. Town Management (dam repairs, sedimentation reduction on roads, alternatives to salt, community waterfront fund, stormwater control planning, air and solid waste reduction, cooperation with other close towns.)
